For any of you still in planning mode for the end of the year or next year, I found this article about recent color trends.  If you are interested in any of the color combinations listed in this article, let me know and I’ll help you find the matching  colors in our color line (pssst….and we still do custom color matching free of charge.)

Even though it isn’t mentioned in this article, Fuschia has been the #1 top selling color for us this year.  Go figure!

Hasta Lavista, Ebay….I won’t be back

In Random Randomness on May 26, 2010 at 6:06 pm

Yesterday was a tough day.  Three different customers had me in tears.  (Why do they always come in 3′s?)  So, last night in a whirlwind conversation with my husband about my constant frustrations with Ebay, Ebay buyers and being a business owner as a whole, a light came on in my brain…

**why the heck am I still selling on Ebay?**

Ebay had it’s hay day, but now it seems to be a safezone for hostile buyers – and, well, no offense to anyone, but freakin’ idiots.  You can’t imagine some of the questions I receive.  Ok, Ok… it’s not always the buyers fault.  Ebay has weaved such a confusing web of requirements for sellers (which change every couple of months) that the process is maddening for every one involved.  They’ve set up a system where they rake 12% of sales right off the top, plus listing fees and the cost to have a storefront…and if you add in what is lost in a Paypal transaction – we’re at 20% of sales…..gone.  *poof*  They entice sellers with ways in which 20% of those final value fees can be credited back, but then make it literally impossible to meet the standards.  The system is rigged, I’m tellin’ ‘ya.  Rigged, I say!

I’m so tired of feeling like a doormat.  Please Ebay, wipe your feet on me…and, take my money while you’re at it, too.  Thanks!

Goodbye, Ebay.  Parting is such sweet sorrow…..hahahahha…NOT!  Barnum Party Candles will continue to sell through the website, and maybe on etsy.com from time to time but read my lips:  Not on Ebay.

Woohoo!

Lessons from a Two Year Old

In Random Randomness on May 18, 2010 at 10:03 pm

I learned an important lesson today.  If I allow my two year old to use a pen and specify that he  may not use the pen to draw a portrait of himself ON himself, it is also important to explain to him that he also may  NOT use the pen to draw a portrait of himself on  his six month old sister, either.

I’m not sure who is learning more in this mother – son relationship….him or me.
